To support the Jakarta administration’s infrastructure program, city-owned water company PAM JAYA is currently relocating water pipes at several locations across Jakarta, one of which is a pipe with a diameter of 1,200 mm and 225 meter in length on Jl. Kerinci, Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta.

PAM JAYA and its operating partner in West Jakarta, private tap water company PALYJA, are working to relocate the water pipe to ease the construction of an underpass project currently being undertaken by the Jakarta administration.

The relocation work is expected to disrupt the supply of water in the areas where PALYJA operates, from Nov. 17 to 19, and will affect the services that PALYJA provides.

The water supply is expected to return to normal in stages from 12 p.m. on Nov. 20.

Areas facing a reduced water supply include: Selong, Kramat Pela, Melawai, Gunung, Petogogan, Pela Mampang, Banka, Pancoran, Kebon Baru, Tebet Timur, Tebet Barat, Bukit Duri, Manggarai Selatan, Kampung Melayu and surrounding areas.

Areas facing a halt in the water supply include: Kelapa Dua, Meruya Selatan, Srengseng, Kebayoran Lama Selatan, Pondok Pinang, Sukabumi Selatan, Grogol Utara, Grogol Selatan, Cipulir, Kebayoran Lama, Kebayoran Lama Utara, Pancoran, Mampang, Perapatan, Tegal Parang, Pela Mampang, Duren Tiga, Bangka, Pejaten Barat, Pancoran, Cikoko, Kalibata, Pengadegan, Rawa Jat and surrounding areas.

“The relocation of the 1,200 mm-diameter pipe is a large project and will therefore have an extensive impact,” said PAM JAYA’s president director Erlan Hidayat.

PALYJA has prepared a fleet of water tanks in anticipation of the reduced supply of water at buildings such as hospitals and places of worship.
